Jim Francis Receives “Gun Sense Candidate Distinction” from Moms Demand Action
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COVINGTON, LA - Jim Francis, congressional candidate for Louisiana’s 1st District, has received the “Gun Sense Candidate Distinction” from Moms Demand Action for his support for gun violence prevention and gun safety.
Moms Demand Action is a nonpartisan, grassroots movement founded in 2012 in response to the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
“I’m grateful for the Moms Demand Action Candidate Distinction,” said Jim Francis. “Like many Louisianans, and as a gun owner myself, I believe we should be able to come together on common-sense reforms that protect our constitutional rights while also keeping our kids safe.
“And let’s be clear: this is about preventing gun violence, not controlling the rights of everyday, responsible gun owners. I believe we can meaningfully reduce gun violence in this country while still respecting the Second Amendment, and I will support policy measures that do so.”
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for new and stronger solutions to lax gun laws and loopholes. Since its inception after the tragedy at Sandy Hook School, Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and, along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Everytown Survivor Network, is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with more than four million supporters.
Jim Francis is the Democratic candidate running for Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District, currently held by Rep. Steve Scalise. He has over 20 years of experience in computer programming, data analytics, and development. Jim lives in Covington with his wife and son.
